Ghana's chief justice calls for tech-driven reforms to cut case backlogs and expand access to justice.
Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie urged Ghana’s justice system to embrace leadership, innovation, and technology to stay relevant, speaking at the 68th Legal Year opening on October 4, 2025.
He highlighted the need for digital transformation to reduce case backlogs, improve transparency, and expand access to justice, especially for rural and vulnerable populations.
While stressing that technology must not deepen inequalities, he called for ethical leadership, procedural reforms, and alternative dispute resolution to address systemic challenges, including those from illegal mining.
