West Midlands Railway’s new Class 730/0 electric trains, launched on the Cross City Line in March 2024, have carried over 12 million passengers in their first year, boosting customer satisfaction by 19% and serving key routes from Birmingham to Walsall, Wolverhampton, Rugeley, and Birmingham International.
The six-carriage fleet, offering over 1,000 seats per train with air conditioning, power outlets, and improved accessibility, completed its rollout in September 2024 and earned the 'Fleet Achievement of the Year' award at the National Rail Awards.
The project is part of a £1 billion regional rail upgrade, with University Station seeing over 3 million passengers in the first year.
