The University of Wisconsin system is proposing a standardized general education curriculum to streamline credit transfers across its 13 campuses.
The plan, mandated by state law, establishes six broad academic categories—communication, humanities, social and behavioral sciences, natural sciences, quantitative reasoning, global studies, and languages—with students completing 30 to 36 credits across 10 to 12 courses.
Individual campuses can determine how courses fit within the categories and retain unique programs like wellness courses.
