Starting in 2025-26, 20% of undergraduate seats in India’s agricultural universities will be filled via a national entrance exam by ICAR, standardizing admissions across states.
The move, aimed at fairness and transparency, allows students with Class 12 in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or Agriculture to apply through CUET-ICAR.
About 85% of 3,121 ICAR quota seats will be accessible to those with an Agriculture background, as 42 universities accept ABC and three accept PCA combinations.
Five others are set to adopt Agriculture eligibility by 2026-27.
The reform is expected to benefit nearly 3,000 students annually.
