Russian President Vladimir Putin warned on October 2, 2025, that supplying Ukraine with U.S.-made Tomahawk cruise missiles would mark a "qualitatively new stage" of escalation and severely damage U.S.-Russia relations, citing the need for direct U.S. military involvement and Russia’s ability to intercept the weapons.
