Over 10,000 typhoid cases in Ghana’s Oti Region prompt health warnings over unsafe water and food.
The Volta Regional Environmental Health Officer, Stellar Kumedzro, has urged residents to boil or disinfect drinking water due to a surge in typhoid cases linked to ongoing water shortages from the Ghana Water Company Limited.
Over 10,000 cases have been reported in Oti Region this year, with rising infections among food vendors in Ho Municipality.
Kumedzro warned that typhoid indicates contamination in water or food and stressed safe practices, including thorough cooking, covering food, and avoiding bare-floor sales.
Health officials and the Food and Drugs Authority are supporting these measures to curb disease spread.
