Over $630,000 in state funds approved to train 24 jobseekers in construction on Russell Island, with renovations for crisis housing.
Over $630,000 in state funding has been approved for a Russell Island property owned by Redlands councillor Shane Rendalls and builder Dan Golin to train 24 jobseekers in construction through the Skilling Queenslanders for Work program.
The project, managed by Skill360, will refurbish a house and seven cabins for crisis accommodation, with no development application submitted to Redland City Council.
The owners donated the site and goods, with future renovations self-funded.
The initiative, promoted by Liberal-National MP Rebecca Young, aims to support vulnerable individuals, including domestic violence victims.
No further programs are planned on the site.
