A new men’s cancer support group launches Oct. 6 at the Hummingbird Centre in Oxfordshire, offering a safe space for men to share experiences.
The Hummingbird Centre in Launton, near Bicester, has launched a new men’s support group for cancer patients and caregivers across Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Buckinghamshire. The group’s first meeting is scheduled for October 6, 2025, offering a judgment-free space for men to share experiences and connect. The initiative was launched during an event attended by local officials and patients, including Graham Darby, a terminal cancer patient who credited the centre with helping him through a 20-month journey. Centre manager Zoe Draper emphasized the need for men to express emotions often suppressed due to societal pressures. The Hummingbird Centre, founded in 2014, provides free services like counseling and lymphoedema care, relying on donations and volunteers, and operates Tuesday through Friday, 10 am to 4 pm.
