Michigan lawmakers have passed an $81 billion state budget for 2025, delivering record funding for education with over $24 billion allocated to K-12 and higher education.
Public schools will receive $10,050 per student, a 5% increase, and all students will continue to get free breakfast and lunch.
The budget includes $321 million for school safety and mental health, $258 million for at-risk students, and $1.3 billion redirected to community colleges and universities, boosting higher education funding by 41%.
It also expands college access through increased scholarships and FAFSA support, while some state agencies face funding cuts to prioritize transportation.
The budget now awaits the governor’s signature.
