A man was killed after intentionally stepping onto Metrolink tracks in Burbank, where a train couldn’t stop in time.
A pedestrian was killed Friday night around 10 p.m. when struck by a Los Angeles-bound Metrolink train at the downtown Burbank station, west of the pedestrian crossing on tracks between Magnolia Boulevard and Olive Avenue.
Authorities say the man intentionally placed himself on the tracks as the train, Route 232 from Lancaster, approached and could not stop in time.
The victim’s identity has not been released.
No passengers or crew were injured.
The tracks were closed between Glendale and Burbank North stations, causing two late-night trains to be canceled and one diverted to Burbank Airport.
The Burbank Police Department is investigating and urges witnesses to contact them.
