Lucas Markovina sentenced to 12 months in prison for threatening a bank teller with "I'm going to kill you" during a drug-fueled incident in Armidale.
Lucas Markovina, 37, was sentenced to 12 months in prison for threatening a bank teller with "I'm going to kill you" during a May 8 incident at a Commonwealth Bank in Armidale.
Under the influence of drugs, Markovina tried to withdraw money from a closed account, became enraged when asked for proper ID, and made threats against staff after being told he’d receive a cheque by mail.
Police arrested him shortly after.
The court heard he believed he was unfairly treated after mistakenly depositing funds into a non-existent account, but the magistrate called him a repeat offender and emphasized the seriousness of violence threats in public.
The sentence includes a six-month non-parole period, effective September 29.
