Kingston Health Sciences Centre doubled its robotic surgery capacity with a new DaVinci XI robot, expanding access to complex procedures.
Kingston Health Sciences Centre has acquired a second DaVinci XI surgical robot, doubling its annual robotic surgery capacity to over 400 procedures and expanding services to include complex liver and upper gastrointestinal surgeries.
The robot, delivered before Labour Day 2025, enhances precision, speeds recovery, and increases access for patients previously ineligible due to equipment limits.
Funded by community donations, the $3.5 million investment supports KHSC’s growing robotics program, now spanning urology, gynecology, colorectal, and thoracic surgeries.
Surgeons emphasize that patient access is now based on medical need, not robot availability.
