Kenya is launching a nationwide mobile ID registration drive to register over one million unregistered Kenyans aged 18 and above, especially in marginalized regions, using live capture technology to issue IDs in three to seven days.
The government is distributing 400,000 unclaimed IDs through local chiefs during the Jukwaa la Usalama campaign, removing fees for first-time applicants and eliminating vetting for border county residents as directed by President Ruto.
Refugees and aliens can now register, and plans include deploying mobile units to all 1,450 wards.
