India buys six AK-630 anti-drone guns amid rising border tensions with Pakistan.
The Indian Army has issued a tender to buy six AK-630 30mm air defence guns from state-owned AWEIL as part of Mission Sudarshan Chakra, a 2025-initiated security plan to build an indigenous, multi-layered defence shield by 2035.
The systems, designed to counter drones, rockets, and artillery, will be towed by high-mobility vehicles and equipped with all-weather fire control, capable of engaging targets up to 4 km away at 3,000 rounds per minute.
The move follows Pakistan’s reported attacks on civilian and religious sites during Operation Sindoor, prompting enhanced border security and a warning from Army Chief Gen Upendra Dwivedi against further aggression.
