Descendants of Bihari, an Indian indentured laborer brought to Fiji in 1916 and adopted by a Fijian chief, were formally welcomed home to Nabukadra Village in Ra on September 27, 2025, after six generations.
The emotional ceremony, led by descendant Narain Sharma, included traditional rituals and marked their official recognition as “Kai Nabukadra” and “kai Ra.” The event honored the legacy of compassion between Bihari and Chief Ratu Meli Salabogi, symbolizing enduring cultural belonging and reconciliation.
