Zimbabwe MP accuses top finance official of taking bribes, amassing wealth, and blocking payments.
Zimbabwe’s Parliamentary Budget Committee chair, Energy Mutodi, has accused Finance Ministry Permanent Secretary George Guvamatanga of demanding 5% to 10% kickbacks from contractors, blocking payments when demands were unmet, and amassing over $1 billion in wealth.
Mutodi claims Guvamatanga, known as “GG,” owns thousands of dairy cattle, multiple properties, and has intimidated critics, including threatening violence.
Despite repeated summons, Guvamatanga has refused to appear before Parliament, sparking calls for a lifestyle audit and formal investigation.
The allegations, involving widespread financial misconduct and delayed disbursements, have drawn national concern and prompted Finance Minister Mthuli Ncube to respond.
