A 17-year-old NSW volunteer firefighter was arrested for allegedly starting multiple fires in Wallacia and falsely reporting them.
A 17-year-old volunteer firefighter from Warrimoo, Sydney’s west, was arrested on October 2 by NSW Police on charges linked to multiple bushfires in the Wallacia area between June 23 and September 7.
Police allege he intentionally started the fires and then responded to them in his volunteer role, a pattern that led to his identification.
He faces three counts of intentionally causing fire, one count of recklessly spreading fire, and two counts of false representation.
Taken to Springwood Police Station, he was denied bail and is set to appear in children’s court.
Authorities are urging the public to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously with any information about the fires.
