Vice President Shettima returned from the UN, promoting Nigeria’s UN Security Council bid and global partnerships.
Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja after representing President Bola Tinubu at the 80th UN General Assembly, where he called for UN reforms, advocated for Africa’s control over its mineral resources, and promoted Nigeria’s bid for a permanent Security Council seat.
He met with UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who praised Nigeria’s candidacy, and highlighted a $200 billion energy transition plan to attract global investment.
Shettima also strengthened ties with the UK, the Gates Foundation, and German financial institutions, emphasizing Nigeria’s role in the African Continental Free Trade Area and the importance of the Nigerian diaspora.
