Two former Trinity College staff face trial over alleged €500K fraud from student fund.
Helen Richardson, a former Trinity College Dublin student support officer, and Daniel Dwyer have been ordered to stand trial on charges related to an alleged scheme to defraud nearly €500,000 from the college’s Student Hardship Fund. Richardson faces over 100 charges, including theft and money laundering, accused of making more than 100 fraudulent transfers between €1,550 and €3,000 from 2021 to 2022. Dwyer faces 14 charges involving the handling of stolen funds. Both appeared in Dublin District Court, where the prosecution consented to trial by indictment. They were granted legal aid, released on bail, and have not entered pleas. Their cases are set for mention in the Circuit Court in November and December. A third individual faces related money-laundering charges. The college confirmed the allegations are under investigation.
