On October 2, 2025, TransAstra successfully tested its inflatable Capture Bag technology on the International Space Station, demonstrating its ability to withstand space conditions and capture debris, a step toward preventing Kessler Syndrome.
The test, conducted in Voyager Space’s Bishop airlock and backed by NASA, the U.S. Space Force, and private investors, also marked the first in-space use of TransAstra’s DAQAstra data system.
Funded by CASIS and private sources, the project will now advance with a $2.5 million NASA CCRPP award matched by private funds to develop a 10-meter version for capturing larger debris and asteroids, supporting future deep space missions through in-situ resource utilization.
