flag A Singaporean lawyer was sentenced to two years in prison for forging legal documents due to work stress.

A 34-year-old Singaporean lawyer, Banupriya Ravichandran, was sentenced to two years in prison for forging three documents, including two court orders and a property title deed, after becoming overwhelmed by her workload between 2018 and 2019. She created fake deputyship orders using archived files to avoid delays, and forged a title deed for a client’s HDB flat to expedite a legal process. The forgeries were uncovered by the Agency of Integrated Care and HDB when document checks revealed discrepancies. She pleaded guilty in 2024 and will begin serving her sentence on October 31, 2025. As of October 3, 2025, her name is no longer listed on the Ministry of Law’s lawyer registry.
