Pakistan has imposed a 40% regulatory duty on commercial imports of used vehicles under five-year-old, specific PCT headings, effective immediately.
The measure, approved by the federal cabinet and Economic Coordination Committee, applies until June 30, 2026, and includes environmental, safety, and quality standards.
The duty, in addition to existing customs fees, will decrease by 10 percentage points annually until eliminated by 2029-30.
It aims to protect domestic industry, reduce foreign exchange outflows, and support environmental goals.
