Ontario is expanding primary care access in Renfrew County and the Renfrew-Nipissing-Pembroke region with $3.3 million in funding to connect up to 9,600 residents to family doctors, nurse practitioners, and other providers by March 2027.
The investment supports the Ottawa Valley Primary Care Collaborative and the West Champlain Family Health Team, part of a broader $2.1 billion plan to create over 300 new care teams.
Eligibility for Health Care Connect has also been broadened, allowing anyone—regardless of current provider status—to join the waitlist.
The goal is to reduce barriers to consistent, local care, improve health outcomes, and strengthen the system.
