Maruti Suzuki shipped 116 cars to Kashmir by rail for the first time, boosting supply chain efficiency.
On October 3, 2025, Maruti Suzuki became the first Indian automaker to deliver new vehicles to the Kashmir Valley via rail, shipping 116 cars including the Brezza, Dzire, WagonR, and S-Presso from its Manesar plant to Anantnag Goods Shed.
The 850-km journey, completed in about 45 hours, used a newly opened in-plant railway siding and crossed the Chenab Railway Bridge, a key part of the USBRL project.
The move eliminates reliance on the often-closed Srinagar-Jammu highway, improving supply chain efficiency, reducing delivery times and vehicle wear, and supporting broader regional connectivity under the PM GatiShakti plan.
