Krysta Tsukahara’s parents sued Tesla, saying a design flaw in the Cybertruck’s doors trapped her as it burned after a drunk driver crashed, killing four.
The parents of 19-year-old Krysta Tsukahara, who died in a Tesla Cybertruck crash in a San Francisco suburb, have filed a lawsuit alleging a design flaw prevented her from escaping the burning vehicle.
The suit claims the car’s electric doors failed to open due to a malfunctioning system and hard-to-reach manual overrides, trapping her as flames spread.
The crash, which also killed three others, involved a drunk and drugged driver who crashed into a tree.
The lawsuit asserts Tesla knew about the door issue for years but did not act, adding to a federal investigation by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration into similar stuck-door complaints.
This case follows a prior $240 million jury award in Florida over a Tesla-related death.
Tesla has not commented.
