flag Most Americans, including many Republicans, support extending ACA subsidies to avoid higher premiums and coverage loss.

A new KFF poll finds that 78% of Americans, including 59% of Republicans and 57% of MAGA supporters, favor extending enhanced Affordable Care Act subsidies set to expire at the end of 2025. The credits, which have helped around 22 million people afford coverage since 2021, could lead to nearly double premiums without extension, risking coverage for an estimated 4 million. The cost to extend them would be about $350 billion over ten years. Despite budget disputes, a majority of Americans, including many Republicans, would blame Trump or GOP lawmakers if the credits lapse. Open enrollment for 2026 begins November 1.
