Ireland is expanding veterinary education with a €41 million investment to build a new veterinary college at Atlantic Technological University in Letterkenny, set to open in 2028–2029.
The facility will create 80 new student places annually starting in 2026, with 40 at ATU and 40 at South East Technological University, addressing workforce shortages and supporting rural economies.
The campus will include a full clinical facility, enabling hands-on training and reducing the need for students to study abroad.
The project, backed by government and university funding, aims to strengthen regional development, retain talent, and advance veterinary care and One Health initiatives.
