Indonesia begins constructing a 92-megawatt floating solar plant in West Java, targeting November 2026 operation.
Indonesia has started building a 92-megawatt-peak floating solar plant on West Java’s Saguling reservoir, led by state utility PLN.
Expected to begin operations in November 2026, it will generate over 130 gigawatt-hours annually and cut 104,000 tons of carbon emissions yearly.
The project supports Indonesia’s goal to add 42.6 gigawatts of renewable energy by 2034, with solar accounting for 17.1 gigawatts.
It follows a prior floating solar initiative in the region by PLN and UAE-based Masdar.
The investment for the new plant is not disclosed, but officials call it a major step in the nation’s clean energy shift.
