Indian households expect lower inflation in coming months, per RBI survey.
Indian households reported declining inflation expectations across food, non-food, housing, and services in the Reserve Bank of India’s September 2025 survey, with three-month expectations falling to 8.1 percent and one-year outlook dropping to 8.7 percent.
While current inflation perception rose slightly to 7.4 percent, fewer respondents expect price increases in the near term, and rural households showed stronger optimism, with one-year inflation expectations falling to 7.6 percent.
Younger respondents reported lower inflation perceptions, while Kolkata had the highest current perception at 10.5 percent.
The RBI noted the survey reflects household sentiment, not its official assessment.
