Former Burbank school board member Charlene Tabet to face felony charge for awarding contract to her daughter’s company.

Charlene Tabet, a former Burbank Unified School District board member, is set to be arraigned on October 30 on a felony conflict-of-interest charge. She is accused of awarding a $90,000–$93,000 contract to a company registered under her daughter’s name to complete overdue board meeting minutes, with little work done. Authorities allege Tabet signed documents and endorsed checks using her relative’s name and deposited funds into her personal account. She resigned in early September, was arrested on September 23, and is no longer in custody. The case stems from an investigation that began in June 2024.
