Drishti IAS fined ₹5 lakh for falsely claiming most UPSC selections came from paid courses, a repeat offense.
The Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) fined Drishti IAS ₹5 lakh for misleading advertisements claiming 216+ UPSC Civil Services Examination 2022 selections, revealing that 162 of those candidates had only taken a free interview guidance program after independently clearing prelims and mains, while only 54 were in paid courses.
The CCPA found the omission of course details deceptive, violating consumer protection laws, and noted this was a repeat offense after a ₹3 lakh penalty in 2024 for similar claims about 2021 results.
The authority has issued 54 notices and imposed over ₹90.6 lakh in penalties on 26 coaching institutes for deceptive advertising, stressing the need for transparency in educational promotions.
