Developer pulls 14-home plan in Swindon after resident pushback; homeowner gets retro approval for minor changes.
A developer has withdrawn a plan to build 14 homes in Langton Park, south of Swindon, after nearly 50 resident objections.
Concerns included removing mature, ecologically significant trees, straining infrastructure, and disrupting the neighborhood’s character.
The proposal, which included detached, semi-detached, and terrace homes along Langton Park Road, was withdrawn on September 30, 2025.
Meanwhile, a homeowner in Swindon’s Old Town received retrospective planning permission for unapproved alterations—such as a rear extension, loft conversion, and detached garage—deemed minimally impactful and in line with conservation area guidelines.
The garage must be used only for storage and cannot be sold or rented separately.
