Delmarva Power and Chesapeake Utilities seek 43% and 30% gas rate hikes effective Nov. 1, 2025, due to rising costs.
Delmarva Power and Chesapeake Utilities have requested major natural gas rate hikes—43% and 30% respectively—set to take effect November 1, 2025, due to rising fuel and operational costs.
The increases, tied to pass-through expenses for purchasing and transporting gas, could raise monthly bills by $11.33 and $16.51 for customers in northern Delaware.
Both utilities serve hundreds of thousands of customers, and while regulators have limited power to block the hikes, the Public Advocate will review them for fairness.
The changes follow prior rate filings and reflect ongoing cost pressures.
