Air Marshal Hardeep Bains has taken over as Air Officer-in-Charge Personnel in the Indian Air Force, succeeding retiring Air Marshal SK Vidhate.
Bains, commissioned in 1987, brings over 5,000 accident-free flying hours and key leadership roles, including Commandant of the National Defence College, and has been awarded the Vishisht Seva and Ati Vishisht Seva Medals.
On the same day, Lieutenant General Virendra Vats assumed command of the National Cadet Corps, succeeding Lieutenant General Gurbirpal Singh.
Vats, a 37-year Army veteran with experience in counter-insurgency operations and UN missions, will lead the NCC’s expansion to 20 lakh cadets across 28 states and 8 union territories, aligning with the Viksit Bharat@2047 vision by integrating digital skills, innovation, and global awareness into youth development.
