Sanders Middle School in Richland County, South Carolina, was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Bluff Road near Blackberry Road around 6:30 a.m. on October 1, 2025.
A 2008 Lexus sedan struck him while he was crossing the road before fleeing the scene.
The vehicle was later found, and 55-year-old James Hargrave was arrested and charged with leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
The Richland County Coroner confirmed the boy’s identity, and the school district activated a crisis team to support students and staff.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol continues investigating.
