A 14-year-old from west Auckland has been remanded in custody after being arrested in connection with two nighttime burglaries in New Lynn on September 27 and 29, 2025, during which victims were asleep. Police say the suspect allegedly stole electronics and vehicles, including taking keys from parked cars. Surveillance footage led investigators to a Rānui residence, where a search warrant was executed, resulting in the recovery of stolen property and two of three stolen vehicles. The teen faces two counts of burglary and appeared before the Waitākere Youth Court. Authorities praised the swift response and urged residents to install CCTV and report suspicious activity.
