West Nipissing appoints Mike Pilon, former OPP commander, as new CAO, succeeding retiring Jay Barbeau.
The Municipality of West Nipissing has appointed Mike Pilon, a former OPP Chief Superintendent and regional commander with over 31 years of experience, as its new Chief Administrative Officer, succeeding Jay Barbeau, who is retiring after 25 years.
Pilon, a Sturgeon Falls resident since 2018, led a large OPP region overseeing 775 officers, 130 staff, and a $105 million budget.
Selected after a competitive process that began in February 2025, he was chosen unanimously by council on September 17 and officially announced on October 1.
The transition will focus on acclimating to municipal operations, budget development, and creating a strategic vision by late winter.
