A Tennessee man was arrested after slashing a Virginia cop’s hand during a failed arrest, facing new charges and extradition.
A 36-year-old man, Matthew Dwayne Moore, was arrested in Bristol, Tennessee, after allegedly slashing a Bristol, Virginia police officer’s hand with a knife during an attempted arrest. The officer, responding to outstanding warrants for trespassing and obstruction of justice, was attacked while attempting to detain Moore, who fled but was later captured near the state line with help from Tennessee officers. The officer sustained cuts to three fingers, received on-site medical care, and was released from the hospital. Moore, already wanted in Virginia, now faces additional charges including assault on a law enforcement officer and fleeing justice. He is being held in Tennessee pending extradition to Virginia.
