Tennessee to execute Christa Pike in 2026 for 1995 murder, making her first woman executed in over 200 years.
The Tennessee Supreme Court has scheduled Christa Gail Pike, 49, for execution on September 30, 2026, making her the first woman in over 200 years to be executed in the state.
Pike was convicted in the 1995 torture murder of 18-year-old Colleen Slemmer, known as the “Job Corps Murder,” alongside two others.
Prosecutors allege she struck Slemmer with asphalt and kept part of her skull.
Pike’s legal team argues she was a teenager at the time, suffered severe abuse, and has since shown remorse and received treatment for mental health conditions, including bipolar disorder and PTSD.
A 2023 motion to reopen her case was denied.
Her execution would mark a historic moment in Tennessee’s death penalty history.
