The Taft Union High School JV football team, 3-1 and riding a two-game win streak, prepares for South Sequoia League play after a bye week focused on fundamentals and player development.
They will open league action on Friday, October 3, hosting Shafter, also 3-1.
The varsity team, 1-4 after a 62-7 loss to Cabrillo, used its bye week for recovery and skill refinement, with junior Joe Weber leading in rushing and receiving, and defensive standout Xander Griffith contributing two interceptions.
The Taft Wildcatters youth teams split their games on September 27, with the JV winning 38-12, while the Varsity and Sophomore teams lost 20-0 and 26-0.
Upcoming games include matches against Del Oro and the West Warriors.
