SleepSpace wins NIH grant to test a smartphone-based therapy for older adults’ sleep and brain health.
SleepSpace, led by NIH-funded scientist Dr. Daniel Gartenberg, has won an NIA SBIR grant to develop a smartphone-based digital therapeutic for insomnia and cognitive health in older adults.
The 11-week trial with 180 participants will test whether the SleepSpace Phone—used in Airplane Mode with a smart light and charger—improves sleep quality and slow-wave sleep linked to memory and reduced Alzheimer’s risk.
The system uses AI-driven coaching, CBT-I, circadian lighting, and touchless tracking validated against medical sleep studies, while limiting screen stimulation and social media to prevent orthosomnia.
It integrates with wearables and offers a free trial at www.sleepspace.com.
