SkyWest will launch subsidized flights from Paducah to Chicago starting Feb 1, 2026, replacing Contour Airlines.
The U.S. Department of Transportation has approved SkyWest Airlines to provide essential air service from Paducah’s Barkley Regional Airport to Chicago O’Hare International Airport starting December 1, 2025, under a four-year contract.
SkyWest will operate 12 weekly round trips using CRJ-200 aircraft, replacing Contour Airlines, with service set to begin February 1, 2026.
Although the DOT approved only the Chicago route due to cost-effectiveness, SkyWest and local officials aim to add Houston service using CRJ-550 aircraft within the existing subsidy.
The transition will be coordinated to prevent service disruption, and updates will be shared via the airport’s social media channels.
