Singapore court denies bail to Indonesian fugitive Paulus Tannos in e-KTP corruption case, upholding extradition request.
The Singapore High Court has upheld the denial of bail for 70-year-old Indonesian businessman Paulus Tannos, who is fighting extradition over allegations tied to Indonesia’s e-KTP corruption scandal, which caused losses of about 2.3 trillion rupiah.
Tannos, arrested in January 2025 after being a fugitive since 2021, faces a potential life sentence.
The court rejected his medical appeal, stating his health conditions are stable and manageable in prison, and cited his multiple passports, including a diplomatic one from Guinea-Bissau, as evidence of flight risk.
Indonesia formally requested extradition in February 2025 under a new bilateral treaty covering corruption, money laundering, and bribery, including crimes up to 18 years old.
The case continues as Indonesia seeks his transfer to face trial.
