Romania launches voluntary 4-month military training for ages 18–35 to strengthen its reserve forces.
Romania's government has approved a draft law allowing young adults aged 18 to 35 to voluntarily join a four-month military training program aimed at revitalizing the country’s aging reserve forces.
Participants would gain hands-on experience, receive full support including housing and medical care, and upon completion, join the operational reserve with compensation equal to three average monthly salaries.
The initiative addresses a projected loss of nearly 350,000 reserve personnel by 2027 and permits training in civilian institutions to expand skill development.
The bill has been sent to Parliament for expedited review, with a goal of passage by year-end.
