Richard Osman declined to join BBC’s The Traitors unless cast as a traitor, citing emotional stress and secrecy.
Richard Osman, creator of The Thursday Murder Club, revealed he declined an invitation to appear on the upcoming celebrity edition of BBC’s The Traitors, stating he would only join if guaranteed to play a traitor.
Speaking on ITV’s Good Morning Britain, he cited the psychological stress of being a faithful contestant, fearing isolation and elimination while others enjoyed filming freedom.
He noted participants remain silent about their experiences, even fellow cast members, and joked he couldn’t appear now without revealing his role.
The show, premiering October 8, features 19 celebrities competing in the Scottish Highlands for a charity prize.
Osman also confirmed he won’t join Strictly Come Dancing and declined to comment on a potential Netflix sequel to The Thursday Murder Club, though he noted it’s the most requested follow-up on the platform.
He is promoting his latest novel, The Impossible Fortune, released September 25.
