A Pennsylvania man died in a crash of his unregistered ultralight plane during practice flights.
A 75-year-old Altoona man, David Edward Wittmer, was found dead in a cornfield in Indiana County, Pennsylvania, after his unregistered ultralight aircraft crashed on October 1, 2025.
He was reported missing following a takeoff around 6:30 p.m. while practicing touch-and-go landings near Young Township.
The aircraft was discovered about a mile from the takeoff site, with Wittmer’s phone and camper found nearby.
Authorities ruled out foul play and are treating the incident as an accident.
