Masdar buys nearly half of four Spanish solar plants for €368M, expanding its Iberian capacity to 3.2 GW.
Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s clean energy firm, has completed a €368 million deal to acquire a 49.99% stake in four operational solar plants in Spain with 446 megawatts of capacity from Enel Green Power España.
The transaction, finalized after regulatory approval, includes €69 million in equity and €115 million in financing, boosting Masdar’s Iberian solar capacity to 3.2 gigawatts.
The deal supports Masdar’s goal of 100 gigawatts of global renewable capacity by 2030 and strengthens its European expansion, with Spain as a key hub.
Enel retains control and full consolidation of the assets, while the sale reduces its net financial debt by €184 million in 2025.
The companies also signed a memorandum to explore joint projects in Spain, Italy, and Germany.
