Authorities responded to Wendemere Drive around 6:13 p.m. and found a severely stabbed victim, transported to Prisma Health Tuomey, whose condition remains unknown. The suspect fled in a white Hyundai, leading to a pursuit across three counties. During the chase, the suspect fired at a deputy, who returned fire. The vehicle crashed on Ashwood School Road, and the suspect died from a gunshot wound. One deputy sustained an ankle injury but is expected to recover. No civilians were harmed. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and Highway Patrol are investigating.
