Irish F2 driver Alex Dunne leaves McLaren's development programme after two wins and two F1 FP1 appearances.
Irish Formula 2 driver Alex Dunne, 19, has mutually parted ways with McLaren Racing’s Driver Development programme, effective October 2, 2025.
Dunne, from Offaly, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to drive an F1 car and participate in two FP1 sessions at the Austrian and Italian Grands Prix, becoming the first Irish driver in an F1 weekend since 2003.
He remains fifth in the FIA Formula 2 standings with two rounds left, having secured two wins this season.
McLaren praised Dunne’s progress and wished him well, though no official reason was given for the split.
