India’s INS Sutlej began joint hydrographic surveys with Mauritius, covering 35,000 sq nautical miles to boost maritime safety and cooperation.
The Indian Navy’s hydrographic survey vessel INS Sutlej arrived in Port Louis, Mauritius, on September 29 for the 18th Joint Hydrographic Survey, covering 35,000 square nautical miles under a 2025 bilateral agreement.
The mission aims to improve maritime safety, support sustainable ocean management, and strengthen regional cooperation in the Indian Ocean.
Mauritian officials received training in hydrographic data collection and processing.
This follows the January 2025 completion of the first phase by INS Sarvekshak.
The Indian Navy also conducted outreach activities, including a medical camp, reflecting its SAGAR vision and commitment to regional maritime partnerships.
